A 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes the Greek Island of Evia
The Athens Institute of Geodynamical Sciences reported a 4.5 magnitude earthquake early Monday morning on the island of Evia, located northwest of Athens.
According to the Greek newspaper “Kathimerini,” the earthquake occurred at 03:23 local time (00:23 GMT).
The institute indicated that the quake struck at a depth of 16.9 kilometers and was felt by residents in the capital region, although no immediate reports of damage have been received.
A aftershock measuring 3.6 magnitude was also recorded 20 minutes later.
It is worth noting that the area has recently experienced additional seismic activity, including a 4.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Sunday morning.
