The crash of two drones in the Sohar region of northern Oman has resulted in the death of two expatriates and multiple injuries, according to the Omani news agency citing a security source. This incident comes at a time of escalating tensions in the area, marked by reciprocal attacks using drones and missiles.

The source detailed that one of the drones crashed in the industrial area of Al-Awhi in Sohar, leading to the fatalities of two foreign workers and injuries to several others, along with minor damage at the site. The second drone fell in an open area, fortunately without causing any human casualties.

Oman’s authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and identifying the origins of the two drones, with heightened security measures in place in the region.

This event is part of a series of similar incidents that have occurred in the sultanate in recent days. On Wednesday, authorities announced that fuel tanks at Salalah port in Dhofar Governorate were damaged due to a drone attack, while air defenses successfully intercepted several other drones without any reported casualties.

Earlier reports indicated another drone crash in the sea north of Al-Duqm, situated approximately 550 kilometers from the capital, Muscat, with no material or human damages reported.

These incidents coincide with rising tensions in the region, as drone strikes and attacks have been targeting several Gulf countries, reflecting a broader escalation of security tensions in the area.
