Tomorrow evening, Moroccan Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mahdi Ben Said, will officially inaugurate the 2026 National Camping Season at the national campsite in Bouznika. The event is set to begin at 6 PM, marking a significant moment for youth engagement across the country.
Expanded Reach for Youth
This year’s season comes with an ambitious expansion of beneficiaries as the ministry has announced that the number of participating children and adolescents is expected to rise to approximately 210,000. This is a substantial increase from the roughly 167,000 beneficiaries last year, a figure confirmed by the Minister during a recent session in the House of Representatives.
Quality and Safety at the Forefront
Ben Said elaborated that this year’s program is designed to enhance the camping experience by focusing on the quality of supervision and improving safety and health standards. The ministry aims to offer opportunities to as many children as possible from varied regions of the kingdom, with a special emphasis on gender equity and inclusivity.
Inclusive and Innovative Initiatives
Moreover, the 2026 season prioritizes inclusivity by encouraging the participation of girls and students from rural backgrounds, as well as previously marginalized groups. For the first time, the program will also integrate children enrolled in anti-dropout initiatives, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Education, Preschool, and Sports.
Diverse Educational Formats
The National Camping Program will feature a variety of educational offerings, including permanent camps, neighborhood camps, thematic camps, and scout exploratory camps, along with educational summer outings. These initiatives are aimed at responding to the interests of young people while ensuring equitable access across different demographics.
Enhanced Transparency and Management
In an effort to modernize program management, the minister highlighted the implementation of a dedicated digital portal for camping that allows associations to submit, track, and manage their requests. This system is designed to enhance transparency and streamline the selection process, relying on assessments from central and regional committees based on specific legal, organizational, and educational criteria.
