The Ministry of National Education, Early Education, and Sports, in partnership with Huawei Morocco, has launched the third edition of the “DigiSchool” program aimed at enhancing digital skills among students in rural areas. This initiative seeks to support Morocco’s educational transformation, fostering innovation and inclusivity in schools across the nation.
Transforming Education in Rural Morocco
Following the success of its previous editions, the DigiSchool program has firmly established itself as a vital initiative for integrating digital technologies within educational institutions, particularly at the middle school level. The program places teachers and students at the heart of the educational process, transforming digitalization into a powerful learning tool and a catalyst for pedagogical innovation.
Expanding Reach and Impact
The 2026 edition aims to widen the program’s national impact by mobilizing 60 educators produced by earlier sessions to lead new training initiatives. Additionally, it plans to directly train approximately 300 new teachers across all twelve regions, aiming to indirectly benefit an additional 5,000 educators through a model focused on knowledge transfer and expanded resource access.
Approximately 12,500 students are expected to directly engage with DigiSchool clubs, while around 50,000 others will gain exposure to technology and innovation in various educational contexts.
Fostering a New Educational Landscape
Anis Liu, Vice President of Huawei Morocco, emphasized that this program is designed to create a dynamic educational environment, using technology as a lever for learning, creativity, and equitable opportunity. The third iteration reflects Huawei’s commitment to support teachers, inspire students, and cultivate a culture of innovation throughout Morocco.
Innovative Training Approaches
DigiSchool 2026 stands out by broadening its scope and adopting a holistic approach that combines training, mentoring, and hands-on experimentation. It will feature the establishment of 300 clubs within educational institutions and engage parent associations through training related to resource mobilization and participatory financing.
The curriculum spans several areas, including design thinking, project management, sustainability, data analysis, business modeling, and technological project development, while also focusing on presentation and communication skills. Emphasis will be placed on educational technology and digital pedagogies to ensure effective and sustainable technology use in classrooms.
Technical Skills for Tomorrow
On the technical front, this edition will delve into programming with Scratch and Python, as well as Vibe Coding, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, and the Internet of Things. The aim is to empower students to devise innovative solutions for real-world educational and social challenges.
Structured Phased Implementation
The program will unfold in four main phases: intensive in-person training at the regional level, followed by remote mentoring and support. This will culminate in a series of technology fairs and twelve regional hackathons to identify standout projects, concluding with a national training camp showcasing final projects in a “Demo Day” before a panel of judges.
The DigiSchool program reinforces the belief that Morocco’s digital educational transformation is not solely about providing technological tools; it is also about fostering creativity, experimentation, knowledge transfer, and building the confidence of future generations in technology.
Addressing Digital Divide
At a national level, the program aspires to bridge the digital divide, particularly in rural areas, while promoting pedagogical innovation as part of a broader vision to build a more modern, equitable, and inclusive education system.
