The National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco Enhances Its Presence at the Baku International Book Fair

The National Library of the Kingdom of Morocco is participating in the eleventh edition of the Baku International Book Fair, being held in the Azerbaijani capital until October 7. The event sees extensive participation from publishing institutions and national libraries from around the world.

The fair witnessed the signing of a partnership and cooperation agreement between the Moroccan National Library and its Azerbaijani counterpart, aimed at exchanging experiences and publications, and organizing joint cultural activities in the field of library science, thereby strengthening cultural and knowledge ties between Rabat and Baku.

As part of the fair, the Director of the National Library, Samira Melizi, participated in an international seminar titled “The Role of National Libraries in Preserving Cultural Heritage,” where she presented the Moroccan experience in safeguarding and valuing national documentary heritage as part of the Kingdom’s historical identity and collective memory.

On Friday, the Morocco pavilion was inaugurated at the Azerbaijani National Library, attended by Melizi and her Azerbaijani counterpart, Karim Tahruf. The Moroccan National Library presented a selection of Moroccan publications as a symbolic gift to the Azerbaijani institution, including books on Morocco’s history, geography, and cultural heritage, along with works highlighting the major development projects launched by King Mohammed VI, as well as books documenting the Green March.

The Baku International Book Fair is one of the most prominent literary events in the region, serving as a platform for interaction between publishers and readers, fostering experience exchange, and promoting reading culture in the digital age. The fair also aims to support young authors and highlight contemporary literature, while encouraging professional cooperation among stakeholders in the publishing industry.
