More than 3.1 million tourist overnight stays were recorded in the Fes-Meknes region during 2025.

The tourism sector in the Fes-Meknes region achieved positive results in 2025, surpassing 3.1 million overnight stays registered at classified hospitality establishments, marking an increase of 9% compared to the 2.8 million nights recorded in 2024, according to data from the National Tourism Observatory.

This figure represents approximately 7.14% of the total overnight stays registered nationally in 2025, which exceeded 43.49 million nights, with an occupancy rate of 48%, reflecting a three-point increase from the previous year.

Fes topped the list of cities in the region in terms of overnight stays, with 1.67 million nights, accounting for over half of the total nights registered in classified hospitality establishments last year.

When looking at the distribution of overnight stays by tourist nationality, international tourists accounted for a total of 1.79 million nights, a rise of 12.11%, while Moroccan tourists recorded 1.31 million nights, up by 5.27%.

In 2025, a new strategy was launched to reposition the region in the tourism sector, notably through the promotional campaign “Glow Fes,” aimed at boosting the region’s appeal in several international markets that remain underexplored.

This initiative was launched by the Moroccan National Tourist Office in partnership with the Regional Tourism Council of Fes-Meknes and local authorities, with the goal of elevating Fes to be among the top three tourist destinations nationally.

In addition to its cultural and historical attractions, Fes aims to diversify its tourism offerings by encouraging visitors to explore other cities and regions such as Meknes and Ifrane, which will help increase the average stay of tourists to more than two or three nights, which is currently the norm.
