A new agreement has been initiated to enhance cooperation between the Public Prosecution, the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency, the Royal Gendarmerie, and the General Directorate of National Security, aimed at strengthening investigations related to doping in sports.
This agreement was officially launched today, Wednesday, September 24, in Rabat.
Hicham Belgui, the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation and head of the Public Prosecution, emphasized that this agreement embodies a shared commitment to unify efforts and coordinate actions to confront the challenges posed by doping, especially as Morocco prepares to host major continental and international sports events, including the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
Belgui highlighted the seriousness of this issue, as it threatens the integrity and transparency of sports competitions, with significant health and social implications. He reminded attendees of the royal directives issued in 2008, calling for a resolute and strict fight against doping.
He noted that Morocco has completed its legal and institutional framework to address this issue, starting with its ratification of relevant international agreements, up to the adoption of Law 92.12 amended in 2024, which established the Moroccan Anti-Doping Agency and empowered it to implement public policy in this field.
Furthermore, Belgui indicated that the Public Prosecution supports this initiative by monitoring cases registered in courts, organizing training sessions for prosecution judges, and participating in international platforms and conferences aimed at promoting integrity in sports.
He explained that the new agreement will serve as a reference framework for effective institutional coordination, contributing to the proper application of laws and unifying the efforts of public authorities in combating doping and its promotion, in service of the values of transparency and equal opportunities in national sports.
