The Confederation of African Football (CAF) condemned today the “security breaches and violations” that occurred at the Kasarani Stadium during the match between Kenya and Morocco, part of the African Nations Championship.
In an official statement, CAF clarified that the match, held last Sunday, witnessed serious infractions, including the breaking of one of the gates and entry of fans without tickets, leading to the stadium exceeding its capacity. Some restricted areas designated for the media were also invaded.
The statement added that the federation has referred these incidents to the relevant authorities for investigation and necessary action, noting that discussions are ongoing with the local organizing committee and the Kenyan government to ensure compliance with CAF regulations and safety protocols.
It is worth mentioning that the African Nations Championship is currently taking place in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, and will continue until August 30.
