Deposit and Management Fund and UIR Launch an Innovative Mechanism to Support Scientific Research and Innovation
The Deposit and Management Fund, in partnership with the International University of Rabat, has launched a new and unprecedented mechanism to support scientific research and innovation by signing five partnership agreements aimed at enhancing the connection between academic knowledge and development requirements.
This mechanism includes support for research chairs and laboratories, alongside the accompaniment of innovation projects and encouragement for the creation of startups, cementing a long-term institutional collaboration between the two parties.
In this context, a framework agreement was signed to govern the various components of this mechanism, establishing the foundations for a scalable partnership, along with four agreements to create thematic chairs covering strategic areas, including savings and social protection, disaster risk, sustainable finance, as well as inclusive and effective innovation.
Both parties affirmed that this initiative reflects a shared approach towards enhancing applied research as a fundamental lever to keep pace with economic and social transformations, both nationally and continentally, with a focus on strategically prioritized issues.
This step is part of an ongoing partnership between the two institutions since the university’s establishment, seeking to leverage academic expertise to support major developmental projects, with plans to expand this system in the future by creating new chairs in other fields.
The agreement also sets out governance rules associated with managing these chairs, including aspects related to intellectual property, confidentiality, and communication, while preserving the independence of each research project.
This direction aligns with the aspirations of both institutions to establish an integrated model that links scientific research with developmental challenges, enhancing the role of innovation in creating added value and supporting the national economy.
