Mawazine Announces New Highlights for the Twentieth Edition

Organizers of the “Mawazine: Rhythms of the World” festival announced a new lineup of major artists who will participate in the 20th edition of the festival, set to take place from June 20 to 28 in the cities of Rabat and Salé, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI.

The festival announced on its official social media pages that the opening ceremony, scheduled for June 19 at the Mohammed V National Theatre, will feature Egyptian artist Carmen Soliman, who will grace the evening with her “unique voice and captivating presence” in a “special musical evening that kicks off this extraordinary edition.”

The Renaissance platform will host Egyptian artist Ruby on June 20, while Lebanese star Nancy Ajram will return to her Moroccan audience on June 22 with a “vibrant and romantic performance.” On June 26, star Myriam Fares will light up the stage in a “legendary show filled with love, energy, and authentic art.”

At the Bouregreg platform, Afro-pop star Yemi Alade will perform a special concert on June 21, while Senegalese artist Cheikh Lo will celebrate mbalax music on June 22.

The souissi platform will welcome Belgian artist “Lost Frequencies” on June 27, and on the night of June 28, American rap legend “Lil Baby” will take the stage in an event dedicated to music lovers.

Earlier, festival organizers had revealed the participation of several international and Arab stars, including American actor and rapper Kid Cudi, actor and rapper Will Smith, music producer Afrojack, American artist Becky G, the Korean group “AESPA,” alongside Nigerian stars “Lojay” and “Wizkid.”

The organizers also announced the participation of Julian Marley, the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, Guinean artist “Ans-T Crazy,” and Malian giant Salif Keita, along with prominent Arab artists like Wael Jassar and Ragheb Alama.

The Moroccan Cultural Association, which organizes the festival, confirmed that “Mawazine: Rhythms of the World,” like previous editions, will represent an unmissable cultural event for the audience, who will again enjoy free entry to 90% of the shows and events that will promote values of peace, openness, tolerance, and respect.

The association highlighted that in this new edition, the festival promises a high-quality program filled with surprises for all music and culture lovers, featuring top global and Arab stars, young talents in the Moroccan scene, as well as a selection of shining names representing the musical heritage of the five continents.

It is worth noting that the 19th edition of the festival (2024) witnessed the attendance of more than 2.5 million spectators over nine days of concerts at various venues in Rabat and Salé.

Since its inception in 2001, the “Mawazine: Rhythms of the World” festival has been an unmissable event for music lovers in Morocco. With over two million attendees at each of its recent editions, it is considered the second-largest cultural event in the world.
