North Korea acknowledged on Monday that it had sent troops to Russia and assisted Moscow in reclaiming territories in the Kursk region from the Ukrainians, while Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked Kim Jong-un for this “achievement.”
The Korean Central News Agency reported that “sub-units” of the North Korean “armed forces” had “participated in operations to liberate occupied areas in Kursk,” asserting that the military efforts of these soldiers had “achieved victory.”
The agency quoted North Korean leader Kim Jong-un as saying, “Those who fought for justice are all heroes and representatives of the honor of the motherland,” adding that a monument to “battle exploits” would soon be erected in the capital, Pyongyang.
For his part, Vladimir Putin thanked the North Korean leader on Monday for the “achievement” accomplished by his soldiers.
