Royal Air Maroc Launches Direct Flight Between Casablanca and Catania

Royal Air Maroc announced today, Monday, the launch of a new direct flight linking Casablanca to Catania, a city in the Italian island of Sicily, starting June 28, 2025.

In a statement, the airline reported that this route will operate twice a week on Mondays and Saturdays using Boeing 737 aircraft. Flights will depart from Casablanca at 3:20 PM local time, arriving in Catania at 7:40 PM local time. Return flights from Catania will leave at 8:40 PM, landing in Casablanca at 11:35 PM local time.

Royal Air Maroc indicated that the inauguration of this new route enhances its network in Italy, bringing its total Italian destinations from Casablanca to seven, which include Milan, Rome, Bologna, Turin, Venice, Naples, in addition to Catania.

The airline confirmed that this route responds to the increasing needs of customers, particularly the Moroccan and African community residing in Italy, as well as Italian tourists wishing to discover Morocco, alongside transit passengers traveling through Casablanca to other international destinations.

Hamid Addou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated that launching this route marks the beginning of a critical phase in the airline’s development strategy, reflecting its commitment to strengthening its presence in the Italian market, especially in the southern part of the country. He emphasized that the route will provide new opportunities for both African and Italian travelers and will contribute to boosting tourism flows between the two countries.

He added that this project is part of a series of new air routes that will be launched soon with the aim of facilitating travel for Moroccans living abroad, especially through Casablanca airport and various airports in northern Morocco. He confirmed that the airline is continuously working to improve customer experience and enhance the quality of its services.

With the scheduling of 45 weekly flights to Italy, Royal Air Maroc renews its commitment to providing flexible and convenient travel solutions primarily targeting the Moroccan and African community residing in Italy.

The statement concluded that this new route strengthens Casablanca’s position as a strategic airport hub connecting Europe and Africa, noting that tickets for the flights are available for purchase via the official Royal Air Maroc website, call centers, and the airline’s commercial agencies, in addition to a network of travel agencies.
