A decision to terminate the duties of the Moroccan ambassador in Tunisia

A decision to terminate the duties of the Moroccan ambassador in Tunisia
A A

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad has announced the termination of Hassan Tarek’s duties as Morocco’s ambassador to the Tunisian Republic, effective March 24 of last year.

According to a statement published in the official journal, the end of Hassan Tarek’s tenure as the Kingdom of Morocco’s ambassador to Tunisia coincides with his appointment by King Mohammed VI as the kingdom’s mediator, succeeding Mohamed Benali-Lou.

Tarek has held the position of Morocco’s ambassador to Tunisia since 2019 and has a PhD in public law from the Faculty of Legal, Economic, and Social Sciences in Rabat. He has also previously served as the coordinator of the network of heads of public law and political science departments in Morocco.

Rabat had summoned the mentioned official in 2022 in response to the Tunisian president’s reception of the Polisario leader, Ibrahim Ghali, during the Japanese-African summit “TICAD” held in Tunisia at that time.
