Mokweina: “Securing third place is an honor”

Mokweina, the coach of Wydad Casablanca, stated that his team’s position in third place is commendable, noting that his continued tenure as head coach relies on the club president, Hicham Ait Manna.

In media statements following the 1-1 draw against Olympique Safi in the 27th round of the professional league, Mokweina said: “As a coach, I always bear the responsibility for the results, and that’s part of my duties. It is true that third place is not the ambition of Wydad nor its fans, but considering the circumstances we are in, I find it an honorable position.”

He added: “I know well that Wydad’s supporters always demand the best, and they have the right to do so, as this great club is accustomed to titles and competition.”

“For me, I will always love Wydad, regardless of the circumstances, because Wydad is not just a team but a great entity with loyal and passionate fans, among the best, if not the best, on the continent,” he continued.

He went on: “I understand the fans’ anger and always respect their opinions. In my view, the club president Hicham Ait Manna is the best in Morocco and perhaps in Africa as well, and my continuity at the helm of the team is in the president’s hands, and I will respect what he finds suitable for the welfare of the team.”
