The Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Azeddine Mdaoui, has issued a new decision allowing for the automatic equivalency of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees obtained from public universities in France with Moroccan national degrees.
The decision was published in Official Bulletin No. 7392 and aims to simplify the equivalency process, which previously involved several complex and lengthy administrative stages, from filing documents and having them reviewed by specialized committees to the issuance and publication of decisions in the official gazette. This process used to take at least six months, hindering many graduates from entering the job market or participating in public competitions.
The new decision covers degrees issued by public universities in France across various fields, including legal, economic, social, managerial sciences, as well as exact and human sciences. This move comes in response to a significant number of requests received by the ministry, as French degrees account for more than 60% of the total equivalency requests submitted annually.
In this context, the Minister of Higher Education stated, “It is high time to put an end to the administrative complexities that unjustly affect our graduates from foreign universities. This decision represents a step towards a more equitable and efficient public administration, more aware of the transformations occurring in the international academic landscape.”
Sources within the ministry indicated that similar decisions may be adopted later concerning other countries, as part of a comprehensive review of equivalency mechanisms and the improvement of services offered to Moroccan students graduating from higher education institutions abroad.
