Rabat Hosts Regional Workshop on Pre-Arrival Electronic Data
A regional workshop on pre-arrival electronic data began today, Tuesday, in Rabat, organized by the Universal Postal Union in collaboration with Morocco Post.
This event, according to a statement from Morocco Post, involves representatives from eleven Arab countries, guided by a group of international experts from the Union’s international office.
The same source clarified that pre-arrival electronic data is a key lever for improving the performance of postal services and enhancing the security of international supply chains. The workshop aims to strengthen the technical capacities of postal operators in the Arab region regarding data exchange, through practical training on the Union’s digital systems, particularly the Customs Declaration System (CDS) and the International Postal System (IPS).
In an opening speech, the Director-General of Morocco Post, Amine Benjaloun Taimi, stated that “Morocco’s hosting of this important regional meeting is in line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, regarding the enhancement of South-South cooperation and digitalization as a lever for modernizing public services.” He added that “in light of rapid digital transformations, it has become essential for the postal sector to adopt the best international practices and leverage the latest technologies to improve the quality of its services.”
