The Ministry of Justice Highlights Family Law, Equality, and Criminal Justice Issues at the Book Fair in Rabat

The Ministry of Justice is participating in the 30th International Publish and Book Fair, which will be held in Rabat from April 17 to April 27, 2025, through a pavilion that reflects its direction towards engaging with current societal issues. This year’s participation focuses on several key areas, foremost among them the reform of the Family Code, enhancing gender equality, and developing criminal policy, all within the context of a comprehensive national initiative for the reform of the justice system in the Kingdom.

In a statement, the Ministry of Justice noted that the pavilion is characterized by a modern and interactive design, combining the display of the latest legal publications with the provision of modern digital services. It also offers a space for direct dialogue between fair visitors and Ministry officials. Additionally, this pavilion serves as a platform for public discussion, featuring a rich program of intellectual seminars and open meetings with prominent figures from the judiciary, jurisprudence, politics, and civil society.

The source added that at the heart of this program, the Family Code is presented as a fundamental societal issue, with the ministry organizing an intellectual seminar titled “The Family Code: Between Reality and Legislative Developments” on Friday, April 18, featuring a group of judges, researchers, and legal experts. Another intellectual encounter will address “Gender Approaches in Legislation and Islamic Jurisprudence” on Wednesday, April 23, to tackle issues of equality from constitutional, jurisprudential, and human rights perspectives.

According to the statement, the ministry also recognizes the importance of discussions related to criminal justice, including a seminar on alternative penalties and their impact on humanizing the penal system, as well as a seminar on enhancing equitable access to justice for migrants. The relationship between new media and the formation of legal awareness will also be discussed, in addition to the topic of the unconstitutionality of laws. Furthermore, the ministry will allocate space to present and discuss the book “Parliament and Human Rights” by Professor Abdel Razak Hanouchi, highlighting its commitment to linking legislative practice with human rights.

The statement also mentions that the Ministry of Justice will open its artistic space to host actress and director Sana Akroud for an open discussion about her film “The Testament,” which addresses gender justice issues from an artistic and humanitarian perspective, on Friday, April 25. For children, the ministry has scheduled interactive workshops, including a sign language workshop aimed at young people from the Lalla Asmaa Foundation for the Deaf, alongside educational activities for children from the Mohammadia Foundation for Judges and Justice Employees.

In this context, the Ministry of Justice invites all citizens, professionals, and those interested in legal affairs to visit its pavilion throughout the fair and engage in meaningful public discussions, to enhance society’s trust in the justice system and keep pace with the ongoing reform dynamics of the legal framework in Morocco.
