In a solemn display of diplomatic solidarity, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch visited Doha on Monday to represent King Mohammed VI at the condolence ceremony for the late former Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. This gesture underscores the strong historical ties between Morocco and Qatar, particularly during times of national mourning.

Upon his arrival, Akhannouch was warmly received by Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Lusail Palace. In a private audience, he conveyed a message of condolences from King Mohammed VI, who expressed his profound sorrow and solidarity with the Qatari royal family and the Qatari people in this time of loss. King Mohammed VI noted that he received the news with “deep regret and sorrow.”

In his message, the King praised Sheikh Hamad’s esteemed role and contributions, extending heartfelt condolences not only to the Emir and his family but also to the citizens of Qatar.
