The Moroccan Ministry of National Education has announced the final results of the 2026 national baccalaureate examination, revealing a significant increase in the number of successful candidates and a steady success rate above 64 percent. This year, the exam saw 262,442 students pass, marking a 5 percent rise from the previous year’s figures.

Rising Success Rates

The latest results indicate a broadening success among students from both public and private education sectors. Among the successful candidates, females accounted for 59 percent, translating to 154,881 young women achieving this crucial academic milestone. Overall, the success rate for this year’s cohort reached 64.8 percent, with a notable differentiation between genders: female students achieved a success rate of 68.7 percent, while male students reached only 60 percent.

Exam Participation Statistics

This year, a total of 404,957 students participated in the examinations, with an impressive attendance rate of 94.9 percent. Additionally, 55,556 free candidates also took part in the exams, although their attendance was at a lower 55.2 percent, resulting in a success rate of 37.4 percent in this category. Notably, students with disabilities achieved a commendable success rate of 81.7 percent, benefiting from specific accommodations tailored to their needs during the examination and grading processes.

Efforts Against Cheating

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to modernizing the baccalaureate exams through the continued digitalization of the assessment process. This includes enhancing security measures and the adoption of discreet electronic coding for exam papers for the third consecutive year, alongside providing digital copies of certificates and transcripts. In a robust effort to combat cheating, the ministry has strengthened its monitoring protocols and coordinated with security and judicial authorities to address various forms of cheating, both physical and electronic.

Upcoming Challenges

Looking ahead, approximately 163,179 candidates are set to participate in the resit exams scheduled for July 2-4, 2026. The results for these will be announced on July 11, 2026, further emphasizing the ongoing importance of educational achievement within Morocco’s evolving academic landscape.

As the educational system continues to adapt and enhance its strategies, the focus remains on increasing accessibility and integrity in examinations, essential for nurturing the nation’s future leaders.
