The National Agency for Water and Forests has issued a new alert regarding the heightened risk of wildfires, identifying the regions most susceptible to fire between July 1 and July 8, 2026. Citizens are urged to exercise extreme caution, particularly in forested areas.
Areas of Concern
The agency’s warning is based on predictive maps developed from precise scientific data, which analyzed the flammability of forest cover along with meteorological forecasts and the topographical conditions of each region. Several territories have been classified under the highest risk, including Fes-Meknes, Larache, Ouazzane, Tanger-Assila, Meknes, Hajeb, Ifrane, Sefrou, Taza, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, Khmisat, Rabat, Salé, Skhirat-Témara, Essaouira, Agadir-Ida Ou Tanane, and Taroudant.
Elevated Risk Regions
Additionally, regions that fall under a high-risk classification include Al Hoceima, Chefchaouen, Tetouan, M’diq-Fnideq, Berkane, Nador, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Khénifra, Ben Slimane, Casablanca, and Mohammedia. Areas categorized under medium risk comprise Driouch, Jerada, Oujda-Angad, Tawrirt, and Jercif.
Community Responsibilities
The National Agency has called upon communities living near forest areas, as well as workers, vacationers, and visitors, to refrain from any activities or behaviors that might lead to wildfires. Immediate reporting of smoke or suspicious activities that could threaten forest safety to local authorities is strongly encouraged.
Proactive Measures
This alert forms part of the agency’s proactive efforts to mitigate wildfire risks and to safeguard national forest resources during the summer season, which typically sees rising temperatures and an increased chance of fire outbreaks.
