Government Council to Tackle Key Legislative Initiatives Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Next Thursday, Morocco’s government council is set to convene under the leadership of the Prime Minister to address a series of legislative proposals and high-level appointments. This meeting will not only focus on national governance but also underscore the government’s commitment to social and economic advancements.

Context: Economic and Social Considerations

The council’s agenda comes at a crucial time as the nation prepares for Eid al-Adha in 1447 AH, reflecting both cultural importance and economic implications. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests will present a report on the preparations for the holiday, highlighting the government’s efforts to ensure food security and livestock health during this significant period.

Legislative Agenda: Key Proposals

Among the principal items on the agenda is Bill No. 47.25, aimed at amending the statutory framework governing local government employees. This legislation, introduced by the Minister of Interior, seeks to enhance the operational efficiency of local administrations, addressing challenges faced by public servants in the system.

Additionally, the council will consider Bill No. 69.24, which establishes a new institution to promote social initiatives for employees of the National Agency for Land Conservation, Survey, and Mapping. This initiative underscores a growing recognition of the importance of social welfare within the public sector.

Financial Oversight: Additional Budgetary Measures

The meeting will further delve into a draft decree, No. 2.26.395, proposing additional allocations to the national budget. The Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance responsible for the budget will present these measures, critical for supporting ongoing developmental projects and social programs.

International Agreements: Strengthening Diplomatic Ties

In a move to enhance bilateral relations, the council will discuss an agreement between Morocco and Burkina Faso concerning mutual recognition of national driving licenses, which was signed in Laayoune on December 10, 2025. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates will lead this discussion, emphasizing Morocco’s commitment to regional integration and cooperation.

The session is expected to conclude with proposals for high-level appointments, aligned with Article 92 of the Moroccan Constitution, marking another step in the government’s strategic evolution.
