Today marks the launch of Morocco’s inaugural national forum for youth institutions in Bouznika, a pivotal moment intended to rethink the roles and modernize the functions of these spaces. Under the banner “Youth Institutions: Enhancing Collaboration and Developing Partnerships,” the event aims to redefine how such institutions can better serve the evolving needs of Moroccan youth.

Reimagining Youth Institutions: A National Forum in Bouznika

Context
The forum, taking place from May 15 to 17 and held under the auspices of King Mohammed VI, brings together key stakeholders including government ministers, educators, and youth from across the country. The initiative is viewed as an essential gathering for collective reflection and assessment, providing a platform to formulate a cohesive vision for youth institutions in response to rapid societal changes.

Strategizing for Youth Empowerment
In his opening address, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication Mehdi Bensaid highlighted the importance of the forum in laying the groundwork for a national roadmap to empower youth within Morocco’s broader social project. The anticipated outcomes of the Bouznika Forum are expected to establish practical foundations for innovative youth engagement that aligns with major development initiatives.

Back to the Future: Historical Legacy Meets Innovation
Bensaid underscored the historical significance of youth institutions as a “national school” that has nurtured generations while instilling collective values and creativity. However, he stressed that preserving this legacy requires an evolution into a more efficient and innovative model, adapting to digital and societal transformations. He presented various governmental programs, including a revamped national initiative for youth activity that emphasizes equity and digital access.

Digital Transformation and Transparency
With modernization at the forefront, the minister announced the launch of digital platforms such as “Jama’at.ma” for managing activity requests and partnerships, and a registry system for youth facilitators. These initiatives aim to enhance transparency and ensure equitable opportunities, thereby improving the tracking of programs and activities. He also mentioned the “Youth Passport” initiative, providing diverse services in culture, mobility, training, and economic integration, achieved through close collaboration with various partners.

Volunteerism and Infrastructure Upgrades
The forum also addresses the outcomes of the “Volunteer” program, which has engaged thousands of youths in impactful local developmental projects, alongside backing for innovative volunteer initiatives. Moreover, Bensaid discussed the importance of the “Morocco Youth Award” in fostering creativity and recognition, as well as efforts to upgrade the infrastructure of youth institutions to better serve younger generations.

Workshops for a New Model of Youth Engagement
The forum features multiple thematic workshops aimed at redefining the role of youth organizations in empowerment, integration, and life skills development. Key topics include updating program offerings, establishing impact measures, and adapting facilities to fit a “next-generation institution” model that focuses on digitization, appeal, and flexibility while ensuring accessibility and valuing open spaces. Participants will explore strengthening partnerships with civil society organizations and enhancing collaboration between public youth-oriented policies, alongside incorporating youth issues into regional and local development programs.
