Launch of the “Licensing” Platform: A Step Towards Accelerating the Digitization of Morocco’s Healthcare System

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection launched the digital platform “Licensing” today in Rabat, aiming to expedite the digital transformation in the healthcare sector and modernize the management processes for pharmaceuticals and health products.

The platform was presented during a meeting chaired by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Amin Tehraoui, in the presence of the Director General of the Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products, Samir Ahid, along with officials and professionals from the pharmaceutical sector, highlighting the strategic importance of this project.

The “Licensing” platform is part of key projects aimed at modernizing the administration and enhancing health sovereignty, in line with royal directives. It represents a significant step towards digitizing public services by simplifying procedures, improving transparency, and enhancing administrative efficiency.

In his speech, Tehraoui emphasized that the launch of this platform marks a new beginning for developing the healthcare system, establishing clearer and more transparent foundations for processing requests. He stressed that transparency has become an urgent necessity rather than an option.

He added that the platform serves as a practical tool to improve the clarity of procedures and accelerate file processing, noting that this project is merely the beginning of an ongoing reform process aimed at enhancing service quality.

For his part, the Director General of the agency outlined the strategic vision for digital transformation, which focuses on modernizing procedures and information systems, along with implementing comprehensive digitization of various operations related to drug and health product registration.

He clarified that the “Licensing” platform relies on unified and secure procedures that comply with international standards, utilizing modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to speed up file processing and improve service quality.

This platform represents the first step in an ambitious project aimed at establishing an integrated digital system for health and pharmaceutical regulation, ensuring traceability and compliance with the best international standards.

The initial phase will cover the cosmetics and personal care sector, which includes over 3,500 stakeholders, where all procedures related to activity permits and administrative documents will be digitized before gradually expanding the platform to other health products and pharmaceuticals.

Initial feedback from industry players indicates that this step will contribute to simplifying procedures, reducing processing times, and enhancing transparency, while enabling professionals to track their files remotely in real-time via a unified digital platform.

Through this project, the ministry and the agency aim to develop a modern and effective healthcare system that meets the needs of citizens and professionals while keeping pace with international standards in health regulation.
