“Salix Fruits” Launches Winter Citrus Season with Diverse Global Supplies and a Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

“Salix Fruits,” a company specializing in the import and export of fresh fruits and vegetables to the United States, announced the start of this year’s winter citrus season with a variety of supplies coming from key global production areas. The company emphasized strong partnerships with farmers and an increasing focus on innovation and sustainability to meet the growing global demand.

The company noted that production in both the United States and Mexico is achieving strong levels across various citrus varieties, while certain Mediterranean countries are facing climatic challenges, including frost waves in Turkey and unusual weather conditions during spring in Spain. Meanwhile, production remains more stable in Morocco and Egypt.

The main varieties for this winter season include high-quality oranges from Mexico designated for fresh juice programs in the U.S. market, along with Moroccan mandarins, Egyptian oranges, and lemons produced in California. Argentina and Chile play a pivotal role in supplying the market with lemons and mandarins, while Mexico remains a primary source for lemon supply.

Salix Fruits highlighted its strategy focused on ensuring continuity and reliability through the diversification of supply sources, allowing for the provision of citrus fruits throughout the year. The company observed that challenges faced in some Mediterranean markets have led to reduced quantities, while a surplus in the U.S. market has applied pressure on prices. Moreover, imported oranges have benefitted from the suspension of tariffs, enhancing their competitiveness, despite tariffs continuing on other citrus varieties.

The company reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with trusted farmers and building long-term relationships that ensure stable supplies. It pointed out the presence of quality control teams in production areas and final access points, ensuring consistency in quality and continuous supply throughout the winter months.

In this context, Alejandro Muralio, the company’s CEO, stated that “Salix Fruits” is one of the largest suppliers of citrus year-round, considering the diversification of supply sources as a critical factor in facing market fluctuations and climate challenges.

He added that innovation is central to the adopted strategy, utilizing market data to predict demand, exploring new supply sources to mitigate risks, and employing digital tracking systems to enhance efficiency and transparency. He emphasized that the combination of reliable supply, innovation, and sustainability positions the company strongly for continued global expansion.
