The basic court in Ouarzazate sentenced the defendant S.J., known as “Farkous,” to four years in prison and a fine of 5,000 dirhams after being charged with fraud, attempted fraud, impersonating a legal official, insulting judicial officers, and participating in bribery, with recidivism noted.
The defendant had previously been arrested three times during the same year, misleading his victims into believing he was an employee at the court with strong connections to judges, through whom he could intervene in their cases for financial compensation.
The public prosecutor personally oversaw the investigations and issued a national search warrant after the defendant fled to Marrakech, where he was apprehended and referred to the public prosecutor’s office.
