Morocco Elected as a Member of the Executive Council of UNESCO for Four Years

Morocco was elected on Friday as a member of the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) during the 43rd session of the organization’s General Conference held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The country received 146 votes, securing a seat on this vital executive body for a duration of four years, as confirmed by the Moroccan delegation participating in Samarkand.

The Executive Council comprises 58 member states and operates under the authority of the General Conference. It is responsible for examining the work program and the draft budget presented by the General Secretariat to ensure the implementation of UNESCO’s strategic priorities in education, culture, science, and communication.

This election is a testament to the international recognition of Morocco’s active role in multilateral organizations and embodies the kingdom’s commitment to intercultural dialogue, knowledge enhancement, and international cooperation.
