Nador Port Records 34% Decrease in Fish Landings in January

The quantities of fish landed at Nador Port from coastal and traditional fishing decreased by 34% in January 2026, amounting to 322 tons compared to 491 tons during the same period last year, according to data from the National Fisheries Office.

The office’s report on coastal and traditional fishing statistics in Morocco also noted that the market value of these products dropped by 30% to exceed 17.7 million dirhams, down from approximately 25.3 million dirhams during the same period in 2025.

The report added that landings of pelagic fish declined by 14% in the first month of this year to reach 24 tons, with a value close to 215,000 dirhams, compared to 28 tons valued at 300,000 dirhams during the same period last year.

Additionally, the quantities of white fish caught fell by 15% in January, reaching 62 tons with a value exceeding 1.7 million dirhams, representing a 27% decrease from 2.3 million dirhams and 73 tons during the same period in 2025.

Regarding mollusks, landings declined by 41% to 202 tons, with revenues exceeding 13.8 million dirhams, a decrease of 32%. Landings of crustaceans also fell by 24%, reaching 34 tons, generating revenues of over 1.9 million dirhams.

At the national level, the National Fisheries Office reported that the quantity of marketable coastal and traditional fishing products in January decreased by 21% compared to January 2025, totaling 24,151 tons, while their commercial value reached approximately 1.48 billion dirhams, marking an increase of 5%.
