Mamdani Celebrates ‘Light in New York’
The elected Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani, announced that his decisive victory charts a path to defeating U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been a fierce critic of “democratic socialism.”
Mamdani, the first Muslim to lead the largest city in the United States, stated that his win represents “a triumph of hope over tyranny,” asserting that “New York will be the light in this time of political darkness.”
Mamdani, who will take office on January 1, described Trump as a “dictator,” condemning the White House’s anti-immigration policies, which have seen raids sometimes marked by violence.
