Seventeen Arrested in Fes and Oujda for Embezzlement, Theft, and Forgery
The Regional Judicial Police in Fes, acting on precise information provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, arrested 17 individuals suspected of involvement in embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds, theft, breach of trust, and forgery on Tuesday.
Preliminary data indicated that the detainees are linked to a criminal gang specializing in the theft of vehicles, motorcycles, electric bikes, and electronic devices, which were confiscated and stored at the municipal garage in Oujda. The gang reportedly altered license plates or dismantled vehicles and sold the spare parts in scrap markets.
Inspection operations resulted in the seizure of 10 cars and 17 motorcycles, in addition to 38 dismantled car bodies and a range of spare parts. Among those arrested were the head of the municipal garage in Oujda and three public employees from the same facility.
Twelve of the detained individuals were placed in police custody, while the rest are undergoing judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. This investigation aims to uncover all circumstances and details of the case and identify the criminal actions attributed to each individual involved.
