The African Union: Commissioner for Political Affairs Highlights Morocco’s Support for Electoral Governance in Africa

The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union, Bankole Adeoye, emphasized on Tuesday in Addis Ababa the solid support that Morocco provides for electoral governance on the African continent.

During his annual meeting with representatives of the African and international press, Adeoye highlighted Morocco’s consistent and tangible role in enhancing electoral processes and building democratic institutions within African Union member states.

In this regard, he confirmed that Morocco remains a key partner in promoting standards and professionalism in electoral monitoring within the African Union.

The Commissioner pointed out Morocco’s contributions to the Union’s work in the field of electoral governance, particularly the training program for election observers across Africa, organized in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, and the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union.

This program has enabled African experts to strengthen their capacities in monitoring electoral processes.

It is worth noting that the fourth session of this training took place last April, with the participation of senior officials representing 52 African countries.
