Russia Praises Royal Initiatives Related to the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahel Region

Russia has commended royal initiatives aimed at enhancing stability and supporting development on the African continent. This statement came on Friday in Moscow during the eighth session of the Moroccan-Russian Joint Governmental Commission, chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita, alongside Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian ambassador to Morocco emphasized that his country, “which has a deeply strategic partnership with the Kingdom of Morocco, pays great attention to royal initiatives that open new horizons for cooperation and partnership.”

He added, “Russia considers that the initiatives led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI contribute to establishing stability and enhancing security and sustainable development in Africa.”

These initiatives reflect Morocco’s ongoing commitment, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to serve the development of the African continent through a humanitarian approach based on South-South cooperation, solidarity, and sharing benefits.

The “Atlantic African States Initiative,” launched by His Majesty the King, aims to transform the Atlantic coastline into a space for economic integration and social prosperity, attracting international investments.

Additionally, the royal initiative aimed at enabling Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean represents a new model for regional cooperation, based on establishing logistical corridors, infrastructure, and integrated services.

In this context, the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project stands out as one of the major strategic projects designed to enhance energy connectivity among African countries and serve as a lever for economic development in West African nations.
