Casablanca Stock Exchange Experiences Significant Decline
The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed trading on Monday with a notable decline, as its main index, the MASI, dropped by 1.88% to close at 18,980.22 points, marking its worst daily performance in several sessions.
The MASI.20 index, which tracks the performance of the largest 20 listed companies, recorded a loss of 2.12%, settling at 1,542.04 points, while the MASI.ESG index, representing firms with top environmental, social, and governance ratings, fell by 1.90% to reach 1,292.15 points. Additionally, the MASI Mid and Small Cap index for small and medium-sized enterprises decreased by 1.44%, ending at 1,878.96 points.
In terms of international indices, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 closed down by 0.57% at 18,331.66 points, while the FTSE Morocco All-Liquid index registered a decline of 0.69% to 16,709.65 points. The total trading volume exceeded 645 million dirhams, primarily concentrated in the central stock market.
Regarding individual stocks, TGCC topped the trading list with a volume of 155.5 million dirhams, followed by Jet Contractors with 75.02 million dirhams, and Attijariwafa Bank with 70.05 million dirhams. Notable individual movements included SNEP, which saw the largest loss of 9.98%, followed by Atlanta Sand (-9.09%) and Promopharm (-5.99%). Conversely, Auto Nejma, Akwa, and BMCI led the gainers, with increases ranging from 3.02% to 5.98%.
The total market capitalization surpassed 1.002 billion dirhams, reflecting the level of activity and investments affected by daily market fluctuations.
