The National Office of Fisheries reported that the value of marketed coastal and traditional fishing products reached 6.14 billion dirhams by the end of July, marking a decrease of 3% compared to the same period last year.
In its latest report on coastal and traditional fishing statistics in Morocco, the office stated that the weight of these products amounted to 523,765 tons, showing a decline of 16% compared to the end of July 2024.
By type, the value of shellfish increased by 309%, while the value of seaweeds and white fish rose by 24% and 12%, respectively. However, the value of surface fish decreased by 10%, and the value of mollusks and crustaceans fell by approximately 3% and 2%, respectively.
In terms of weight, the National Office of Fisheries noted an increase in shellfish quantities by 293% to reach 117 tons, and seaweeds increased by 16% to reach 6,880 tons, while quantities of white fish rose by 13% to 63,064 tons.
Conversely, there was a reduction in the quantities of surface fish (down 20% to 412,542 tons), mollusks (down 16% to 36,986 tons), and crustaceans (down 8% to 4,177 tons).
At the port level, the total quantity of coastal and traditional fishing products unloaded at Mediterranean ports reached 9,624 tons by the end of July 2025, reflecting a 1% increase compared to the same period last year. In terms of value, these ports registered a growth rate of 2%, reaching 463.2 million dirhams.
In contrast, Atlantic coast ports experienced a weight decline of 17% to 514,141 tons, and a value decline of 3% to 5.68 billion dirhams.
