A National Camp in Temara Opens New Horizons for the Inclusion of Children with Autism from Various Regions of Morocco

The inclusive national camp has launched at the Dar Al-Atfal (Children’s House) in Temara, benefiting 40 children with autism spectrum disorders from different regions of Morocco, running from August 9 to 20 this year.

The camp is organized by the Organization of Pioneers – Children of Morocco, the National Autism Association, and the Mosaic Association, under the supervision of Osoul Consulting and Studies Office, in partnership with the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, the State Secretary for Social Integration, the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and the National Camping Federation.

This safe educational and recreational space aims to develop the social and life skills of participating children and support their effective integration into society, with 40 companions, mainly mothers, accompanying the children, alongside 20 administrative, educational, medical staff, and specialists in psychological and educational support.

During his visit to the camp, themed “Summer Camps as a Leverage for Social Inclusion and Educational and Psychological Support for Children with Autism,” State Secretary for Social Integration Abdel Jabbar Rashidi praised the initiative that enhances the participation of children with autism spectrum disorders in society and supports their independence and right to leisure.

Rashidi emphasized that the State Secretary is striving to expand this initiative to include other regions of the kingdom, as part of its efforts to enhance social inclusion and ensure the rights of children with disabilities.

For his part, Samir Ayadi, the Deputy President of the Mosaic Association and Director of the National Camp, clarified that the event represents the culmination of three years of joint work with partners, expressing hope that it would be a successful model in terms of institutional support.

Ayadi pointed out that a partnership agreement has been signed with the relevant ministry, focusing on three main pillars: organizing medical campaigns to raise awareness about autism nationwide, establishing regular sessions to support social inclusion, and launching adapted sports for children with autism spectrum disorders in seven Moroccan cities.

The camp’s program includes a variety of activities, such as sensory games, creative workshops, and nature excursions, as part of the organizers’ efforts to raise awareness about autism and promote the integration of children with disabilities into the social fabric.
