A tragedy in Azilal: A school wall collapses, claiming the life of a shepherd.
The community of Timoulilt in the Azilal region was shaken on Saturday by a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a shepherd. Part of a wall of a school collapsed onto him as he sought refuge from the heat and strong winds.
According to initial reports, the deceased, who was tending to his flock near the Timoulilt middle school, chose to shelter beside the wall to avoid the changing weather. He was taken by surprise when the wall suddenly gave way, leading to his immediate death and the loss of several sheep that were with him.
The incident has caused great shock among local residents, especially since the victim lived in difficult conditions and relied on livestock farming as his primary source of income.
Local authorities, along with the Royal Gendarmerie and civil protection, arrived at the scene, where the body was transported to the morgue. A judicial investigation is expected to be opened under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the causes of the collapse and any potential responsibilities.
