With an investment of 350 million dirhams, a major logistics project is set to launch soon on the outskirts of Agadir.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdel Samad Lyouh, announced on Friday in Agadir the imminent commencement of the marketing process for the logistical area in Al Glia, south of Agadir, during the opening of the fourth phase of regional logistics meetings.

This area represents the first achievement under the priority program of the Moroccan Agency for the Development of Logistics Activities, with a target set for 2028. It serves as a key station in executing the national strategy aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the logistics sector, viewed as a fundamental pillar for modernizing the national economy.

This exemplary project spans an area of 45 hectares, with a public investment of 350 million dirhams. It was developed in partnership with the agency, the Souss-Massa region, local authorities, and various territorial partners.

The area aims to provide advanced infrastructure capable of consolidating logistical flows, improving regional competitiveness, and achieving broad socio-economic integration. It is expected to create over 550 direct jobs and nearly 2,000 indirect jobs, thanks to private investments exceeding 800 million dirhams, with an estimated annual added value of 2 billion dirhams.

The minister pointed out that the Souss-Massa region is experiencing rapid dynamics within the logistics sector, in line with significant transformations in strategic sectors like agriculture, industry, and trade, emphasizing the region’s central role as a link between the north and south of the country, in harmony with the High Royal Directives.

He also reaffirmed the ministry and agency’s commitment to implementing the national logistics strategy by establishing 750 hectares of logistics areas by 2028, prioritizing southern regions as part of the royal initiative for the development of the Atlantic space.

For his part, the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hajira, highlighted that the Souss-Massa region possesses all the qualifications to become a pivotal logistics center serving foreign trade, due to its port and road infrastructure, major projects, and attractiveness for industrial investment.

He noted that the Agadir dry port project will significantly contribute to improving goods flow, speeding up transportation processes, and reducing logistical costs, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan exports on an international scale.

These regional meetings, organized under the slogan “Greater Agadir, a Logistics Hub for the Future,” form part of a national platform for reflection and exchange of experiences regarding the logistical challenges of each region, aiming to position logistics as a central lever for development.
