The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water announced on Monday the provision of green energy to its medium-voltage customers, marking an important step towards enhancing national efforts for sustainable energy transition.
In an official statement, the office reiterated its core role in implementing the national energy strategy aimed at transitioning to a sustainable and low-carbon energy model, indicating that it is moving towards a new phase in supporting the use of renewable energy by providing access to green energy for its medium-voltage customers.
The management noted that this initiative is part of the office’s ongoing support for renewable energy projects since the issuance of Law 09-13, which opened the field for investors eager to develop clean energy projects, while also helping customers reduce their carbon footprint.
The beginning of 2025 will be a turning point, with the delivery of the first kilowatt-hour of green energy to medium-voltage clients. In this context, the office highlighted that around 60 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity produced by private producers connected to the national transmission network has been marketed.
Among the notable customers benefiting from this new service are companies such as TANGER MED UTILITIES in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, SAINT GOBAIN in the Kenitra Free Zone, and mining companies in Ouarzazate. This expansion in access to renewable energy reflects the office’s ongoing commitment to developing the clean energy market and broadening the industrial sector’s benefits.
The management continues to enhance the national electrical system through significant programs to improve the network and develop electricity storage solutions, aiming to ensure the continuity and quality of energy supply across the country.
The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water also contributes to increasing the attractiveness of the national economy by giving companies the opportunity to improve their carbon footprint and reduce costs, thus enhancing the economy’s ability to adapt to global environmental demands.
