Creation of 8,690 Companies in Morocco: Casablanca Continues to Dominate

The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property reported that the number of companies established in Morocco during January reached 8,690.

According to the office’s general dashboard on the business creation barometer, these companies are divided between legal entities (6,018) and individual entrepreneurs (2,672).

The same source indicated that the sectoral distribution of the newly established companies revealed the dominance of the commercial sector with a share of 36.2%, followed by construction and public works and real estate activities (19.44%), diverse services (17.21%), transportation (7.93%), industries (7.73%), hotels and restaurants (5.18%), information and communication technology (2.98%), agriculture and fisheries (1.72%), and financial activities (1.6%).

By region, the barometer highlighted the dominance of the Casablanca-Settat region with a total of 2,783 newly established companies, ahead of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region (1,070), Rabat-Salé-Kénitra (1,036), Marrakech-Safi (973), Souss-Massa (664), Fez-Meknes (550), the Eastern region (528), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (383), Drâa-Tafilalet (234), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (228), and Dakhla-Oued Edhahab (161), followed by Guelmim-Oued Noun (80).

In terms of legal status, single-member limited liability companies topped the list with a share of 66.5%, followed by limited liability companies with a share of 33.1%, and public joint-stock companies at 0.1%.
