Launch of the First Meeting of the Cybersecurity Techniques Committee at the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers
The Cybersecurity Techniques and Operations Committee of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers held its first meeting, chaired by Jordan, with the participation of representatives from cybersecurity agencies in Arab countries, along with the council’s and the Arab League’s secretariats.
The meeting discussed the election of vice-presidents of the committee, the establishment of working groups to implement joint Arab initiatives, and appointed their heads. Members also reviewed the work plan for the upcoming period, launched the Arab platform for sharing information on cyber threats, and discussed arrangements for organizing joint Arab cybersecurity exercises and the initiative for a framework for classifying cyber incidents.
The committee was established by a decision of the Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers during its first session in Riyadh at the end of 2024. It is tasked with implementing technical and operational projects, exchanging expertise on technical systems, enhancing cybersecurity protection and alertness, along with proposing plans and joint Arab initiatives.
The Council of Arab Cybersecurity Ministers includes ministers responsible for this sector in Arab countries and operates under the umbrella of the Arab League. The council is responsible for outlining public policies and prioritizing strategies while addressing developments in the field of cybersecurity on security, economic, developmental, and legislative levels. It also adopts unified Arab plans to implement those policies.
