The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies presents its strategic report on governance at the book fair

The Royal Institute for Strategic Studies presented its strategic report for 2024-2025 titled “What Governance for a Changing World?” on Tuesday in Rabat, as part of the activities of the 30th International Book and Publishing Fair.

The institute’s director general, Mohamed Toufiq Melin, unveiled the report, which is part of the “Panorama of Morocco in the World” series launched in 2015. This report is distinguished by its hybrid format, combining a composite and analytical report with a digital platform. It consists of 25 thematic articles, 18 analytical frameworks, illustrative graphs, and over 400 scientific references.

The first part of the report delves deeper into the phenomenon of governance, distinguishing it from the concept of governance through an exploration of its development and the identification of its key concepts. It also examines the three main changing factors currently affecting global governance and analyzes the social, informational, and institutional challenges that hinder governance processes.

The second part addresses the multitude of contemporary crises and highlights the rise of existential risks. It poses critical questions regarding new needs in the realm of Earth governance and calls for innovative leadership that aligns with an increasingly complex and intertwined global landscape.

As for the third part, it presents possible solutions by proposing an international benchmark for good governance and emphasizing the importance of integrating global public property management, enhancing planetary identity, and prioritizing the resolution of complex and intractable issues.

In a statement to the Moroccan News Agency, Melin emphasized that this strategic report is based on the principle that the world, undergoing profound transformations, is evolving into a fragile and artificial realm characterized by uncertainty, which necessitates renewed governance to preserve human civilization and the Earth.

He also stressed that the report proposes the establishment of good governance principles as a permanent framework in accordance with the royal directives, as well as the foundation of anticipatory and adaptive governance.

Melin noted that the report also calls for the preparation of a new generation interested in the future, capable of facing the challenges of tomorrow, and imbued with the constants of the nation and authentic Moroccan values.

Since its establishment, the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies has devoted special attention to the issue of governance, which it considers one of the fundamental pillars in its analysis of the world, and has chosen to dedicate its strategic report for 2024-2025 to this topic.
