The President of the Central American Parliament, Carlos Reni Hernández, reaffirmed during discussions held yesterday, Tuesday, in Rabat with the President of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Wali Al-Rachid, the position of this regional parliamentary organization supporting the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.

A statement from the House of Councillors indicated that Hernández, who is on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a significant delegation, emphasized that this stance aligns with the values adopted by the Central American Parliament, foremost among them respect for the sovereignty of countries and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The same source added that the President of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen) noted that the planned visit of the delegation to the city of Laayoune would be an opportune occasion to assess the extent of the economic and social progress in the southern regions, praising Morocco’s strategic position and the high regard it enjoys under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, “making Morocco a strategic partner and an important axis towards the African continent and the Arab region for Central America.”

In this regard, Hernández commended the ten-year trajectory of fruitful parliamentary cooperation between the House of Councillors and the Central American Parliament, as well as the significant achievements that have resulted at both the bilateral and multilateral levels, particularly valuing the continuous institutional support provided by the council to the Central American Parliament, especially concerning the organization of the regional forum on migration in the Dominican Republic and the upcoming economic and security forum to be held in El Salvador.

This meeting served as an opportunity to reaffirm the strength of the ties between the House of Councillors and the Central American Parliament, and the increasing importance of parliamentary cooperation between the two institutions, in light of regional and international transformations that necessitate intensified coordination and the exchange of experiences in areas of mutual interest.

For his part, the President of the House of Councillors expressed his great satisfaction with the advanced level of relations with this regional parliamentary organization, both at the bilateral and multilateral levels, renewing the council’s readiness to continue supporting the institutional work of the Central American Parliament.

He also expressed appreciation for the agreement between the two sides regarding the upcoming regional conference on migration, scheduled to be held at the end of this month in the Dominican Republic, while simultaneously praising the support of the Central American Parliament for the initiatives launched by the House of Councillors, particularly the Parliamentary Forum Africa – Latin America “Afrulac,” the Morocco – Latin America and Caribbean Economic Forum, among other activities that fall within the framework of the council’s serious engagement in the royal vision aimed at enhancing South-South cooperation as a strategic option, which has opened promising horizons for partnership and the consolidation of regional peace and stability.

In this context, Wali Al-Rachid expressed hope that the planned visit of the Central American Parliament delegation to Laayoune will serve as an opportunity to closely observe the developmental dynamics taking place in the southern regions across various fields, thanks to the large-scale projects and unprecedented structuring initiatives launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, particularly in the sectors of health, education, vocational training, and infrastructure such as roads and ports, which have positioned the southern regions as a pioneering center and a developmental model linking the Kingdom with Africa, Europe, and Latin America.

He emphasized the effective participation of the people from the southern regions in managing their local affairs, both economically and politically, highlighting the wide support for the autonomy plan as the only serious and realistic solution to this fabricated conflict.

At the end of the meeting, Carlos Reni Hernández presented a commemorative model to Mohamed Wali Al-Rachid in celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Moroccan legislative body’s membership as a permanent observer in the Parlacen, in recognition and appreciation of the institutional support that the council provides to this significant parliamentary organization, which makes it a leading and strategic partner for the Central American Parliament.

It is worth noting that this meeting was attended by Councillor Abderrahman Salama, Vice President of the House of Councillors, Councillors Abderrahman Wafa, member of the council’s office, and Ahmed Lakhrif, the council’s representative at the Central American Parliament, along with the council’s Secretary General, Al-Assad Azrouali, and the Head of the Office, Mansour Lmbarki.
