Mohamed Chouki, the leader of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), emphasized that the upcoming political contest should extend beyond merely identifying the electoral frontrunners or the future head of government. He asserted that the core mission lies in defining Morocco’s position today and anticipating the path that Moroccans envision for their country in the coming years.
During a discussion with the Al-Faqih Al-Tetouani Foundation, Chouki noted that as elections draw near, political parties must look past immediate calculations and adopt a strategic mindset. This entails anticipating expected transformations, generating innovative ideas, and proposing solutions to address the challenges facing the kingdom. He highlighted that political responsibility goes beyond participating in elections or managing institutions; it requires parties to engage in public discourse, offer alternatives, and shape public policies.
In this context, Chouki announced the inauguration of the think tank affiliated with RNI, which he believes should serve as a platform for idea generation, societal issue discussion, and managing differences, while also contributing to the formulation of new policy proposals.
Recalling the royal address during the Throne Day celebrations, Chouki underscored what he perceived as a call to recognize the achievements Morocco has made over the past years and to build upon them. He stated that Morocco’s transformations reflect a strategic trajectory, affirming that the vision of King Mohammed VI and the major choices he has made remain fundamental references for the RNI’s political actions.
At the same time, he affirmed the party’s distinct political reference, founded on the principles of social democracy, aimed at promoting greater social and economic inclusion, particularly for women and youth, alongside fostering a culture of achievement and effectiveness in public policy implementation.
Chouki insisted that RNI’s leadership of the government should not divert the party from its organizational and educational roles. He emphasized that the party has continued its grassroots work and maintained communication with citizens through local structures and auxiliary organizations.
He referenced the “Development Path” initiative launched by RNI following the formation of Aziz Akhannouch’s government, which facilitated engagement with nearly 10,000 elected members from the party. This initiative aimed to identify the challenges faced by local authorities, notably financial resource constraints, and ensured these observations were communicated to the legislative body through parliamentary efforts aimed at enhancing financial resources for local communities.
Moreover, he discussed the “Achievements Trail” initiative, introduced halfway through the government’s term, intended to connect directly with citizens across various regions. This program provided a report on past achievements while also gathering feedback on areas requiring acceleration in execution.
According to Chouki, these initiatives reflect the party’s intent to blend the management of governmental responsibilities with its ongoing political and organizational functions, ensuring that field communication and idea innovation remain integral to preparations for the upcoming political phase.
