Akhnouch Launches Tanmar Hospital Services and Announces Major Health Projects in Essaouira
A A

The Moroccan government has inaugurated a new health center in the commune of Tamnarg in the Essaouira region, marking a significant step in efforts to improve healthcare accessibility for over 86,000 residents across 15 communities. This facility, which occupies more than 30,000 square meters and represents an investment of over 126 million dirhams, aims to bring essential medical services closer to the population while alleviating the burden of travel to distant clinics.

The newly opened center will be staffed by a team of 83 healthcare professionals who will provide both primary and specialized services. This initiative is expected to substantially enhance medical offerings and reduce the inconvenience faced by patients in accessing healthcare.

In addition to the new center, Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch visited the ongoing expansion and renovation project of the regional hospital in Essaouira, named after Sultan Mohammed V. With a budget exceeding 83 million dirhams, this project covers an area of nearly 9,000 square meters and will maintain a capacity of 167 beds. Scheduled for completion in approximately eight months, the upgrades will improve patient care in general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, as well as rehabilitation and neonatal services.

Furthermore, plans for another new regional hospital in Essaouira were also reviewed during the visit. This project, one of the largest healthcare developments in the region, is projected to cover about 10 hectares, with a capacity of 280 beds and an estimated cost of 890 million dirhams. The hospital will feature specialized medical and technical departments, including surgical units, emergency services, intensive care, radiology, and laboratory services, along with administrative and logistical facilities.

During his visit, the Prime Minister emphasized that these initiatives are part of broader efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure and ensure equitable access to medical services throughout the country, aligning with national health reforms aimed at improving the overall quality of patient care.
