The administration of the local prison “Toulal 2” in Meknes has refuted claims circulating on social media regarding the treatment of inmate (P.Q.), who allegedly experienced “verbal abuse” and was placed under unsuitable conditions during his transfer to the facility. The prison also denied that he was barred from family visits.
Clarification from Prison Authorities
In a statement issued on July 12, 2026, the prison management clarified that the inmate was transferred from the local prison in Taza to “Toulal 2” on July 9, to serve his sentence. The administration emphasized that the reception process was conducted under normal circumstances, asserting that the inmate faced no harassment or mistreatment. The cell assigned to him reportedly meets health standards, including adequate ventilation and lighting, and is equipped with a television linked to “Bein Sports” channels.
Family Visit Controversy
Addressing the concerns about the inmate’s family being denied visits, the administration explained that his relatives attempted to visit him on July 10. However, their request was denied because they had already taken advantage of a family visit earlier in the week while the inmate was still at the Taza facility. According to prison regulations, each inmate is entitled to one family visit per week, and the administration reaffirmed its commitment to abiding by the legal and regulatory guidelines governing such visits.
