Heatwave Hits Several Regions of Morocco This Thursday

Heatwave Hits Several Regions of Morocco This Thursday
A A

As temperatures soar across Morocco, the General Directorate of Meteorology warns that this Thursday will bring intense heat to the inland plains, southeastern areas, and southern regions of the country. The relentless rise in temperatures is expected to persist, raising concerns among local authorities and residents alike.

Upcoming Weather Patterns

The forecast indicates the possibility of cumulonimbus clouds forming during the afternoon and evening over the High Atlas and Middle Atlas mountains, as well as in the Rif and eastern highlands. These conditions could lead to localized thunderstorms, occasionally accompanied by strong gusts of wind.

Coastal Conditions and Temperature Fluctuations

Fog and low clouds are anticipated in the mornings and nights near the Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines. Meanwhile, the skies will generally remain mostly clear across other regions. Winds are expected to be moderate to relatively strong in the eastern region, southeastern areas, and southern provinces, which may occasionally stir up dust clouds.

Temperature Range and Local Impacts

Minimum temperatures will vary, ranging from 26 to 31 degrees Celsius in the southeastern and eastern parts of the southern provinces, and between 20 to 26 degrees in the inland plains. The rest of the country will see lows between 16 and 22 degrees. Throughout the day, temperatures may either increase or stabilize depending on the location.

Maritime Conditions

In terms of maritime conditions, the Mediterranean Sea is expected to be calm to slightly choppy, while the Strait of Gibraltar and the Atlantic coastline may experience slightly rougher seas. Local fishermen and maritime activities should prepare accordingly as the weather continues to evolve.
