Suleiman’s Son Foils International Drug Trafficking Attempt, Seizes Nearly Three Tons

Suleiman’s Son Foils International Drug Trafficking Attempt, Seizes Nearly Three Tons
A A

In a significant blow to international drug trafficking, Morocco’s National Police Brigade thwarted an attempt to smuggle nearly two tons of hashish on June 5. This operation underscores the authorities’ ongoing commitment to combatting drug-related crimes that threaten public safety.

Context and Background

Working on credible leads provided by the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, the National Police acted decisively near the city of Ben Slimane. Their swift response highlights a systematic approach in the nation’s fight against the rampant drug trade, particularly the trafficking of hashish, a prominent issue in North Africa.

A Bold Pursuit

During the operation, police pursued a suspicious vehicle heading the wrong way on the highway, which eventually abandoned its cargo near Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. A subsequent search revealed 75 bundles of hashish concealed in the vehicle, amounting to a staggering 2,960 kilograms.

Legal Actions and Ongoing Investigations

The National Police Brigade has initiated a judicial inquiry under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor. This investigation aims to apprehend the driver involved in the smuggling attempt and to uncover all individuals connected to the criminal network behind this operation.

Continued Efforts Against Drug Trafficking

This incident marks yet another chapter in Morocco’s persistent efforts to combat international drug trafficking and psychotropic substances. The government’s comprehensive strategy involves not only law enforcement but also preventive measures aimed at curbing the supply chain of narcotics.
