Efforts to reintegrate young offenders involved in extremism have taken a significant step forward with the launch of a new rehabilitation program at Salé Local Prison. On June 8, 2026, the “Musalaha” Center, in collaboration with the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, officially initiated a program aimed at reforming inmates under the age of 20.
Contextualizing the Initiative
This initiative falls within a comprehensive strategy focused on dismantling extremist ideologies and promoting values of citizenship, tolerance, and moderation. By addressing the root causes of radicalization, the program aims to create a conducive environment for social reintegration while curbing manifestations of ideological deviation.
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Approach
Twenty-five inmates will participate in this program, guided by a multidisciplinary team that provides intellectual, religious, and psychological support. This holistic approach aims to tackle various dimensions of thought and behavior. The program also involves engaging the family members of the participating inmates through listening sessions and communication activities. This strategy seeks to strengthen familial bonds, thereby facilitating the reintegration process once inmates complete their sentences.
Expert Guidance and Engagement
Dr. Ahmed Abadi, Secretary General of the Mohammadia League of Scholars and head of the “Musalaha” Center, inaugurated the new session by delivering a lecture addressing key intellectual and ethical issues. He emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental entry point for personal development and community enrichment, highlighting the values of moderation and openness.

The participating inmates have shown a positive response and significant interest in the program’s content.
