Nadia Fettah Unveils Savings Shield to Support Informal Sector Workers

Nadia Fettah Unveils Savings Shield to Support Informal Sector Workers
A A

Lead
Nadia Fettah, a member of the Political Bureau of the National Rally of Independents, recently unveiled the “Savings Shield,” a key initiative aimed at promoting savings among workers in the informal sector while bolstering their economic protection. This move highlights the party’s commitment to addressing rising living costs and enhancing social security for Moroccan families.

A New Initiative for Economic Empowerment
During the launch of the party’s national tour in Fez, Fettah elaborated on the mechanics of the “Savings Shield,” which seeks to combine liquidity with long-term savings incentives. Under this system, the government will match the contributions of individuals, helping them build financial reserves to navigate economic fluctuations while improving their living conditions.

Strengthening Social Security
Fettah emphasized that the “Savings Shield” represents the party’s primary commitment within its new program, aimed at enhancing sustainable purchasing power. The initiative is part of a broader strategy that includes measures designed to strengthen the social security framework for Moroccan households, addressing the growing pressures of inflation and cost-of-living increases.

In addition to the “Savings Shield,” the program will introduce a “Social Shield,” an automatic mechanism that adjusts direct social support in response to rising inflation or exceptional price hikes influenced by the global economic climate. This is projected to benefit approximately four million families, equating to around 12 million citizens.

Prioritizing Purchasing Power
Fettah underscored that safeguarding purchasing power will be a top priority for the party in the upcoming period. She argued that the ongoing global economic shifts necessitate the adoption of more effective tools to protect household incomes, whether through direct support mechanisms or strategies that promote savings and financial stability for the most vulnerable segments of society.

These initiatives, she noted, are integral to the ongoing construction of a social state in Morocco. They are designed to deliver actionable solutions grounded in past reforms, aimed at extending the social safety net and enhancing citizens’ resilience against forthcoming economic challenges.
