In a bid to enhance the purchasing power of Moroccan citizens, the National Rally of Independents (RNI) has unveiled a comprehensive social program. Announced during the party’s national tour in Fez, the initiative focuses on wage improvements, pension reforms, and educational support aimed at alleviating financial burdens on families.

Strengthening Social Safety Nets

Badr Tahiri, the RNI’s regional coordinator in Meknes, detailed the program during a recent meeting, highlighting a key initiative: the “Wage and Pension Improvement Shield.” This measure advocates for an increase in the legal minimum wage across various sectors, including industry, commerce, and agriculture. The plan aims to narrow the wage gap between agricultural and non-agricultural sectors while gradually enhancing pension allowances and expanding the formal economy.

Educational Support for Families

Tahiri elaborated on another significant aspect of the program, the “Education Shield for Families,” which proposes a tax deduction of up to 5,000 dirhams a year for each child, helping cover educational expenses. This initiative not only aims to alleviate the financial pressure on households but also complements ongoing reforms in the “Schools of Leadership” initiative. Families with three children could benefit from a tax reduction totaling 15,000 dirhams annually, extending to those with children enrolled in private schools.

Infrastructure Development in Education

The RNI is also committed to bolstering educational infrastructure, announcing the establishment of 330 new educational institutions in Meknes within just one year. By 2028, the party aims to extend the “Schools of Leadership” program nationwide, furthering its commitment to enhancing educational accessibility and quality across the country.

Government Achievements and Future Goals

Reflecting on the government’s performance from 2021 to 2026, Tahiri underscored significant strides in supporting purchasing power, including a 20% increase in the minimum wage in the private sector and a 25% rise in agriculture. Public sector employees have seen a uniform salary increase of 1,000 dirhams, and the minimum wage in public administration has jumped from 3,258 dirhams to 4,500 dirhams. Moreover, average net salaries in the public sector rose from 8,287 dirhams to 10,600 dirhams.

In conclusion, Tahiri emphasized that these measures are not only feasible but have been carefully drafted in consultation with experts within the party, all aimed at fulfilling governmental commitments and solidifying the foundations of Morocco’s social state.
