Casablanca is poised to host the Moroccan edition of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Exhibition from June 10 to 12, marking a significant milestone in the growing economic partnership between Morocco and China. This event coincides with the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two nations.
Highlighting Economic Ties
This exhibition, held under the theme “Discover Africa – Morocco Edition,” is a collaborative initiative between the organizing committee’s secretariat and Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. Its primary objective is to enhance investment opportunities, boost trade exchanges, and unlock new avenues for cooperation between economic actors from both countries.
A First for Morocco
The importance of this edition cannot be overstated; it is the first time the exhibition will take place in Morocco, following previous iterations held in various African countries such as Kenya and Nigeria. This landmark event reinforces Morocco’s position as an economic hub linking African markets with Europe and the Middle East.
Expectations and Participation
The exhibition will span over 7,000 square meters across nine specialized pavilions, featuring participation from approximately 250 Moroccan and Chinese companies. Represented sectors will include renewable energy, technology industries, industrial equipment, automotive production, metallurgy, construction materials, medical equipment, and agricultural and consumer goods.
The agenda includes an official opening ceremony, business matchmaking sessions, and bilateral meetings aimed at fostering partnerships and sealing new investment and trade agreements.
Strengthening Cooperation
The China-Africa Economic and Trade Exhibition is a cornerstone of cooperation between China and the African continent. Previous editions have resulted in the signing of 512 investment projects valued at over $64.7 billion, establishing it as one of the key economic events designed to bolster China-Africa relations.
Organizers are optimistic that the Casablanca edition will rejuvenate economic cooperation between Rabat and Beijing, broadening business prospects for both Moroccan and Chinese enterprises amid the continuous dynamism in their bilateral relations in recent years.
